The government of China's Shandong Province has issued the latest details of its plans to restructure the local coal industry in the province.   Accordingly, the total annual raw coal output in the province will be restricted to 150 million mt by the end of China's 12th five-year plan period (2011-2015). In addition, by 2015 the annual production capacity of local coal enterprises in coal producing areas with relatively low coal reserves is not to be less than 600,000 mt, while the annual output of enterprises in other areas is not to be less than 1.2 million mt. Furthermore, the number of coal enterprises in the province will be reduced to 60 through mergers and reorganization, while the annual output of large-sized coal enterprises will account for over 75 percent of the total coal output of the province by 2015.   Starting in September this year, the process of mergers and reorganization of coal enterprises in Shandong Province is expected to be completed by December 2015.
